FORMAL CONCERTS-

All Canyon Hills Music Dept. ensembles participate in formal concerts. For these events, formal wear is required.

For comfort and ideal sizing, it is suggested that students wear their own personal clothing (with the exception of ties and vests - those are always school issued so we match), but "loaners" will be provided to students unable or unwilling to do so.

Formal dress code at Canyon Hills is "black tie" formalwear, which means a choice of either -

1) Black Tuxedo/Suit (jacket and pants. White shirt. No blues, no greys. Any lapel is fine)

with a black or red tie (long tie or bow tie is fine).

Everyone wearing a tux/suit will be issued a red tie and vest

*or*

2) Formal Black Dress  (no contrasting color please). Design is up to the individual student, so long as it conforms with the high school's Progressive Dress Code.

If you are more comfortable onstage in a tux, wear a tux. If you are more comfortable onstage in a dress, wear a dress.

There is no formalwear requirement based on sex or gender.

If anyone feels a dress is too feminine (or hinders your ability to sit and play), but a tux is too masculine, I will take up your suggestions on a case by case basis (in past black jumpers and black pantsuits have been acceptable).

Shoes should also be black (no contrasting colors), as should be socks. No flipflops or sandals.

Heals are fine so long as they do not impact performance (unsure? ask).

Style is up to the individual student. "Loaners" are available for students without black shoes and socks.

Loaned out formalwear is yours to use for the year. DO NOT RETURN THE FORMALWEAR TO CHHS UNTIL JUNE - you will be wearing it again. Loaners are to be kept in your home.

Hair styling is up to the individual student. There is no specific requirement.

MARCHING BAND and COLORGUARD UNIFORMS-

The Marching Band and Color Guard have their own uniforms and standards for how to maintain them.

Info can be found here

CHOIR ROBES-

We do not wear choir robes at CHHS. Formal concerts will have choral students in formalwear instead
